The emergency campaign to relief the people of Gaza continues to receive donations to meet their growing needs

As part of the ongoing solidarity with the besieged Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, IICO launched an urgent relief campaign to support those affected in the Gaza Strip by the recent Israeli aggression in order to provide for their basic humanitarian needs and alleviate their suffering.

The Gaza Strip falls within the geographical focus of IICO due to the difficult living conditions of the population of the Strip, which amounts to about two million Palestinians, in addition to the repercussions of the repeated attacks on the Strip and the 15-year blockade, which has affected all walks of life.

IICO is acting on this file in recognition of its Sharia and humanitarian responsibility by launching relief campaigns and developmental, educational and health projects throughout the year to contribute to addressing the humanitarian challenges witnessed by the Strip.

The current Gaza relief campaign aims to provide the actual needs of food, shelter, medicine and medical supplies in accordance with an integrated humanitarian and development system in cooperation with our partners in the homeland.

In this context, IICO approved a package of urgent relief projects to support the families of the victims and the wounded and provide hospitals with fuel to operate generators, medical supplies and tools to support its health services.

In cooperation with the partner charities in Gaza “Palestinian Orphan Home Society, Patient Care Charitable Society, Salama Charitable Society, Al-Weyam Charitable Society and Sawa’ed Society for Relief and Development”, IICO is working to provide 8 hospitals and health centers with tens of thousands of diesel liters to operate generators. This is in addition to their needs of medical supplies, emergency surgical medicines, first aid kits, special diapers for intensive care cases, and assistive tools for people with disabilities, in order to ensure that hospitals continue to provide health services.

The list of urgent assistance also includes 3,225 food hampers, 100 vouchers for the purchase of clothes and kitchenware, shelter for 150 displaced families, 300 hampers for the wounded in hospitals, 2,000 hampers of vegetables, 2,000 liters of drinking water and 5,000 breakfast meals, bread for 1,000 families for two months, cash handout to 110 families of the victims and injured, as well as 50 shelter hampers, and the restoration and furnishing of 50 houses.

Regarding the latest projects of IICO in Gaza, the General Manager of IICO Eng. Bader Al-Sumait said that we have approved scholarships for 1072 students at Al-Aqsa and Al-Azhar universities, the Islamic University and the Applied University College in the Gaza Strip to help them complete their scientific and academic studies in light of the difficult humanitarian conditions they are experiencing.

He pointed out that IICO is about to act proactively with respect to the winter season and its requirements to provide hospitals in the Gaza Strip with energy, fuel, supplies, medical devices, and others.

He explained that since the May 2021 aggression against Gaza Strip, IICO has implemented 30 social, educational, developmental, health and cultural projects, benefiting 720,000 Palestinians, pointing out that IICO is in the process of studying some of the new projects it received from its partners in the Gaza Strip recently.

At the shelter level, Al-Sumait said that IICO has implemented rehabilitation and restoration projects for 517 houses in the Gaza Strip since 2010 until today, in addition to approving two projects to rehabilitate and restore 65 additional houses, including 50 houses in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, bringing the total implemented and ongoing projects to 582 projects for 3492 people.

He expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the benefactors who continued their generous support for humanitarian and development projects in Palestine, appreciating their great sympathy for the victims of the aggression in the Gaza Strip and the entire Palestinian territories.

Al-Sumait pointed out that the emergency campaign to relief the people of Gaza is still continuing to work to meet their growing needs, and that benefactors can donate through the website of IICO, its headquarters or its revenue centers spread throughout all governorates of Kuwait.

It is worth mentioning that since its inception in the mid-eighties of the last century, IICO has been active within all Palestinian territories and in refugee camps in the diaspora, through the establishment of humanitarian, developmental, educational and health projects for the benefit of poor families affected by repeated attacks.
