Scholarships for 48 male and female students at Fatoni University
In order to support outstanding students to complete their university studies,
The low turnout of university studies of young Muslim in Thailand due to their limited financial capabilities.
As part of its strategy to provide educational opportunities with qualitative outcomes for outstanding students with limited capabilities, the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) has provided scholarships to 48 outstanding male and female undergraduate students at Fatoni University in southern Thailand, to help them complete their university studies.
The project aims to secure the academic future for students with limited financial capabilities, and train them through educational and applied courses, which qualify them to engage in the labor market and help them overcome the burdens of life.
Furthermore, the project has a significant impact on keeping some of the scholarship students at a distinguished cumulative ratio, and others have advanced in their cumulative averages.
In recognition of the importance of preparing and catering to students of knowledge, embracing the talented Muslim sons and daughters, and facilitating their path to seeking and acquiring knowledge, Fatoni University presented to the IICO the “Outstanding Students Sponsorship” project. The project aims to help (48) university students in the Colleges of Education, Science, and Technology who are unable to afford tuition fees, by paying their tuition fees during the study period.
The educational programs accompanying the scholarship program aim to enhance the values of student cooperation and solidarity, inculcate friendliness and love in the hearts of students, encourage them to strive hard and exert every effort in their studies, as well as prepare them to become cadres of the future in their scientific disciplines.
The economic crisis in Thailand constitutes a burden on young Muslim university students, in addition to the limited scholarships available to them, the psychological, financial, and social pressures they suffer from, and the linkage of the continuation of student sponsorship to the cumulative average.
The entity implementing the project recommends the continuation of students’ sponsorship until their graduation, as well as including more within this program, especially students of the Department of the Holy Quran and Sunnah, to motivate them to move forward in their righteous approach for the benefit of society.
It is noteworthy that the turnout of Muslim students to university studies is considered low compared to the number of those attending the compulsory stages (from 6 to 16 years of age), given that most of them have limited income. Furthermore, the restriction of student sponsorship to tuition fees only without covering housing and subsistence fees weighs a heavy burden on most of them, in addition to the fact that many of them graduated with university tuition debts, thus preventing them from obtaining their certificates of graduation.
It is worth saying that Fatoni University is the first private Islamic educational institution in Thailand, founded by Muslim scholars and experts in the region with the aim of educating Muslim children and qualifying them to become future leaders.
